Scoil Seanáin Naofa, Clonlara moved to its present site in September 1968.
It then had 4 teachers and approximately 140 pupils.
Today it has 20 teachers, 5.5 Special Needs Assistants, a secretary, a caretaker and 299 pupils.
It is located about 9 km. from Limerick city adjacent to the hydroelectric canal and between the Shannon river to the east and the Sixmilebridge Hills to the west.
Renowned for its scenery, the area also boasts a rich heritage of great houses, castles, folklore and music.
Much of this can be viewed in detail on the school’s local history DVD recorded in 2007.
Scoil Seanáin Naofa has long been respected in both the academic and playing fields with its hurling, camogie and football teams annually vying for Division One county honours.
This cradle of G.A.A. activity has been one of the driving forces behind the club’s present strength.
The original 1968 structure still stands, together with a major extension in 1985 and a stunning 2-storey extension in 2007.
We welcomed the conversion of a classroom to a senior at space called The Hub in 2022.
